Description
Grayanotoxins(G) are toxic diterpenoids found in Leucothoe grayana MAX. (Ericaceae), and G-I--G-XX have been hitherto isolated. In this paper, the rates of deacetylation of 14-mon oacetate[1] 6, 14-diacetate [3] and 6-monoacetate[4] with aqueous ammonia were studied by the TLC method. The observed rate constant(kobs) and halftime(r) of deacety lation in each reaction conditions are shown in Table 1. The deacetylation rate of C - 6-OAc was slower than that of C-14-OAc. The first step of reactions [3]-[4]--[2] obeyed g o od first order kinetics, and the[4]-[2] part was inhibited by ammonium acetate for m ed under these conditions.
