The aim of this study is to clear the problem that the CPITN system is compared with the conventional method in the periodontal epidemiological survey.<br>The objects were selected on the two groups, the one is the some factory workers (A), the other is the outpatient in our hospital (B).<br>The results were obtained as follows.<br>1. Between the CPITN and the probing depth, they showed on the significant correlation between A (R=0.61) and B (R=0.86) groups, (p<0.01)<br>2. Between the CPITN and GBI, they also showed on the remarkable correlation between A (R=0.76) and B (R=0.76) groups, (p<0.01)<br>3. The relationships on the measuring portions in the CPITN and PD or GBI, CPITN code number increased with the progression of PD or GBI, but this tendency is changable on the measuring portion.<br>4. Between the CPITN and furcation involvement, A group showed on the 16.7% more than cord 3 and B group, 76.2%.<br>Above the results, we recognized on the consideration of furcation involvement and readaptation of measuring portions.
