Description
Brassinazole (Brz), the specific inhibitor of brassinolide biosynthesis, showed inhibitory effect on 2^<nd> leaf sheath elongation, but showed promotive effect on the plant height in seed soaking test. When rice seedlings at 3-leaf stage were soaked in 1-10 ppm Brz solutions, the elongation of 2^<nd> leaf sheath was inhibited, but the plant height was increased. When rice seedlings at 3-leaf stage grown in a nursery box were treated with Brz, they showed tolerance against unfavorable conditions such as deep water and aslant transplanting in submerged pot tests.
