Abstract

Leucoagaricus viridiflavus, an agaric fungus newly recorded in Japan, was collected from the ground in the coniferous forests of Hyogo Prefecture. This report contains a description of the fungus and the illustrations of its morphological characteristics. By the maximum parsimony analysis of the nuclear rDNA ITS region, L. viridiflavus samples collected from Japan and India were placed within the same well-supported clade. The present analysis supports the idea that the Japanese and Indian specimens of L. viridiflavus are members of the same taxon.
