Abstract
The corrosion current from strained metal is considered as the major cause for the substantial reduction of crack initiation life due to exvironmentally assisted cracking. A crack initiation life prediction for environmentally assisted cracking was proposed based on the charge transfer. This method can quantitatively incorporate mechanical factors such as strain rate, strain range, strain hold time as well as the electric conductivity of corrosive environment.
