- Production of a Polyimide Seamless-Belt by a Centrifugal Forming Process and Semi-Conductivity Using Carbon Black
抄録
In this study, polyimide resin was examined as a material for use as intermediate transfer belts. Master batches (MBs) were made by mixing various carbon blacks (CB) with polyamic acid (PAA) which is a precursor of polyimide. A method for uniformly dispersing CB in PAA was discussed. The polyimide seamless belts were produced by a centrifugal forming method. In this belt, the electrical resistance (in the range of semi-conductive materials) was measured. The results were as follows: (1) Oxidized CB had excellent dispersibility. (2) It was possible to use oxidized CB to attain high conductivity in the resin, and also it made the change of resistivity sluggish in percolation. (3) The state of CB in the MB solution is important to accurately control the electrical resistivity in the semi-conductive range. (4) The electrical resistivity of the belt was stable with the elapse of time using CB with many volatilized parts (functional groups).
