Biomass plastic has attracted attention as an eco friendly packing material. Poly (lactic acid) (PLA) is used as housing for mobile phones and/or personal computers. The food packaging film requires a variety of properties such as protection of content, gas barrier, printing of ingredients and adhesive lamination of different kinds of polymer. Generally, the biomass polymer faces many problems in such requirements. In this study, we focused on two biomass polymers: PBSL and PLA, and studied dynamic viscoelasticity, crystallization, and morphology, of PBSL/PLA blends. The goal of our study is to utilize a biomass polymer as food packaging material for which PE and PP are most commonly used. PLA is blended with PBSL using a twin rotor kneader at various rations. It is found from viscoelasticity measurements the PBSL/PLA blend showed maximum viscosity, higher than pure PBSL, when the blend ratio of PBSL was 80wt%.
