サリエンシーとは視覚刺激が空間的配置によってボトムアップ性注意を誘引する特性のことを指す．サリエンシー·マップとは計算論的な概念で，視覚の基本的な特徴，たとえば輝度や方位によるサリエンシーが平行して計算された後に足しあわされて作られた単一のマップのことを指す．本解説ではサリエンシー·マップとその視覚探索解析への応用について記す．とくに，著者が以前行った，盲視モデル動物としての第一次視覚野損傷サルへの応用について詳述する．
