Abstract

"The art project" is an artistic activity out of doors with an emphasis on the production process rather than the display of the works as objects in the art museum. The project aims to revitalize local communities. In the past, even if it was successful in making audiences impressed during the events, no records remained and the works were stored, un-archived after the event. Things were too unorganized to find and make sense of. Therefore, in order to create an archived environment of art involving the local community and society, the NPO "Art and Society Research Center" began the "P + ARCHIVE", a cosponsored venture with Tokyo Culture Creation Project Office. It aimed to encourage artists to be part-archivists in the project, "Seed Ship in Maizuru," in which they tried archiving activities. The approach was successful and this concept of records management was published as "Art Archive Kit" and became a model of codified archiving. I will describe the best practice and the further human resource development which is the next direction for the 2020 Tokyo Olympic art performance project, in this paper.
