抄録
Existing electronic devices designed to aid for the blinds’ walk occasionally may make the users confusing, because such devices force the users to pay attention and try to recognize what the device output means all the time. This paper presents a new electronic device, e-cane, with a function to sense and estimate the surface situations on the ground. E-cane measures the position and the direction of the ground surface ahead of the stick by the combination of an angle meter and multiple range sensors. Analysis of the surface sequences is done in real-time process so that the user can get the information such as a slope, walls and steps while shaking the e-cane.
