Abstract

Schwannoma is a benign tumor first reported by Verocay in 1910, and is uncommon in children.<BR>A 12-year-old girl was referred to our department with a complaint of painless swelling in the tongue. The mass was 12mm in diameter, definitive, elastic hard and movable. The clinical diagnosis was benign tumor in the tongue. On the same day, encleation of the tumor was performed under the local anesthesia. Histopathologically, the surgical speciment revealed a figure of schwannoma (Antoni type A).
