Abstract
The influence of caring in marital relationships was explored. Married couples (n= 9) that were caring at home were interviewed. Analysis of the interviews indicated that housework, which had previously been assigned by sex roles, began to be allotted according to the abilities of the couple. However the powerful position held by the husband remained unchanged. In certain situations the marital and caring relationships of these couples were not ideal examples of harmony. Dissatisfaction and conflict were produced when there were differences in the relationship between the couple. This could be observed more strongly in wives who are required to do the emotional work in the relationship.
