In conducting vibration test and stress measurement on actual vessels by means of conventional dynamic strain meters wherein wires are used, a large number of lead wires are required for connection between the measuring pick-up and meters, the measuring points being distributed all over the vessels, especially in case of the recent super-tankers. And, it requires a tremendous effort to maintain these lead wires in a proper condition necessary for the measurement. To eliminate any such inconvenience in handling, the authors produced a newly designed wireless multiple strain telemeter using frequency modulation. This equipment showed fairly good results in the laboratory test and is now being applied for the measurements on actual ships as well as for various experiments. In this paper, the outline of the telemeter and some examples of its application is introduced.
