Description
To clarify the dependence on water content of the adsorbed amount of flavoring component onto tobacco material, adsorption equilibria of mixtures of water and ethanol vapor (the principle flavoring constituent) on typical tobaccos were studied. A method of evaluating the amount of water and ethanol adsorbed was derived from an adsorption model developed by assuming multilayer adsorption and capillary condensation. Experimental results showed fair agreement with the predicted ones, while the derivation from theoretical results was attributed to the swelling or contraction of the tobacco material caused by ethanol adsorption.
