Abstract

When particles are sampled from a gas stream at under an anisokinetic sampling condition, measured particle concentration becomes different from the concentration at the main gas stream depending upon the sampling condition. In this study, an evaluation method of particle concentration under an anisokinetic condition has been investigated, based on dimensional analysis, using a large number of the experimental results. A dimensionless expression for α has been derived, which consists of inertia parameter and Reynolds number and it automatically satisfies the error under the extreme conditions of V0= Vs, V0→ 0, V0→∞, Vs→ 0, Vs→∞, dp→ 0, dp→∞, V0<Vs and V0> Vs at V0 main gas velocity, Vs : suction one and dp : particle diameter. Through a comparison with experimental results, it agrees with them at an accuracy of within 5 % and it can be used with inertia parameter from 0.01 to 30.
