Abstract
We developed a new 8-15 RLL(2, 10)modulation code, named "D8-15", that can suppress the DC components under the run length restriction of RLL(2, 10), and a new signal-processing system inculuding the 2-dimensional PR equalizer that perform adaptive equalizing and cross talk cancel by extracting PR error with original algorithm. Reproduction characteristics of a ROM disk having a capacity of 19.8 Giga-bytes(GB)recorded with the D8-15 modulation signal are examined with combining the newly developed signal-processing system with an optical system composed of a NA=0.7 single objective lens and a GaN laser diode.
