Description
Nowadays, CMOS & CCD image sensors have been of enormous benefits to various fields of digital imaging. However, the dynamic range of those typical image sensors is insufficient to input the images of natural scenes. As a result, virtually any image captured by a conventional imaging system ends up being too dark in some areas and possibly saturated in others. To solve this problem, a lot of researches for widening dynamic range have been proposed and achieved. In this paper, we describe one method of enlarging dynamic range on CMOS computational image sensors with "time-threshold processing." The principle of time-threshold processing and its simulation results are also described.
