Chinese districts from where raw silk was exported during 44 years from 1868 to 1911 of the late Ch'ing dynasty were clarified on the basis of the annual trade records. The contribution of Jiangsu and Zhejiang area was decreased whereas that of other areas was increased. The stagnancy in shipping abroad of raw silk in Shanghai (especially Jiangsu and Zhejiang area) was likely to be due mainly to the delay in mechanization of reeling in the silk industry. The total amount of the exported Chinese raw silk during the 44 years was up to 241, 092t. Statistical records indicated that the tussur silk manufactured mainly in Shandong and Liaoning shared about 1/6 or less of the total exported raw silk, the yellow raw silk from Sichuan, Hubei, Hunan, Henan, Shangdong etc. about 1/10, the white raw silk from Guangdong and Guangxi about 1/4 or more and the white raw silk from Zhejiang, Jiangsu and Anhui about 1/2.
