Description
To clarify the bond stabilities of C. I. Reactive Blue 19 (mono-functional reactive dye of sulfatoethylsulfon type) with silk, the decomposition behaviors of the dyed silk and the dye-amino acid (glycine and γ-amino-n-butyric acid as the model compound for silk) were examined. The following results were obtained:
1) The rate of the decomposittion of the dye-glycine was increased as the temperature became higher. This compound was very stable in weakly acidic solution, but degraded rapidly in alkaline solution.
2) The dye-γ-amino-n-butyric acid was more stable at 100°C in weakly acidic or neutral solutions than in strongly acidic or alkaline solutions. This compound degraded more rapidly than the dye-glycine, especially in acidic region.
3) The dyed silk was very stable in the buffer solutions of pH 3-8 at 70°C, and was considerably stable in the buffer solutions of pH 3-7 at 100°C.
4) The dyed silk was more stable than the dye-amino acid under the same condition.
