Abstract

The ocean thermal energy conversion has been expected in the use promotion as one of the stable renewable energy while an environmental problem and an energy problem are realized as an urgent problem on a global scale. In Saga University, R&D on OTEC has been investigated more than approximately 40 years and IOES has been taken the role as in the country and the overseas study base. In June, 2013, OTEC in Okinawa has been succeeded in grid connected operation system of the ocean thermal energy conversion ahead of the world. In this report, it is shown in the outline about a summary of the ocean thermal energy conversion in Saga University and a domestic and overseas trend.
