Abstract

We have already realized a table-screen 3D display system using a small array of high-speed projectors, which can produce 360-degree three-dimensional images employing converging rays, parallel rays, and diverging rays. In this study, we evaluated the influence of ray divergence on three-dimensional images. We found that the best image quality was obtained with converging rays, the second best quality was obtained with parallel rays, and the worst one was obtained with diverging rays. Regarding the image distortion depending on the observation positions, diverging rays, parallel rays, and converging rays were ranked, respectively.
