The knot pattern of the shantung weaved of doupion silk depends on the distribution of interval of the knots, on the width of the cloth and on the weave density. Namely, the position of the knot is settled in the cross yarn by dividing the doupion silk into the width of the cloth sequencially. In this study, we made the model to estimate the mean and the variance of the count of the doupion knot in the fixed area, so as to evaluate the knot pattern numerically. Relationship between the characteristics of the knot pattern, the mean and the variance of the count of the doupion knot was then examined. Consequently, it was confirmed that the variance-area curve depends on two kinds of periodicity. One of these is a periodic character of the occurrence of the doupion knot, and the another is the periodicity of the dependence of the width of the cloth. Furthermore, we verified these conclusions in some cases by the computer simulation.
