Description

In the processes of gaze shifts on a visual object, cooperative behaviors of bottom-up attention and top-down attention are concerned. Gaze shifts during free-viewing without a specific purpose depend on the saliency of visual information and show object selections in accordance with visual contexts. This property suggests that there might be a medial processes between bottom-up and top-down attention. In this study, a gaze prediction model was proposed in order to understand a mechanism of gaze shifts in free-viewing. We extended a previous model which considers conditional provability to have a weighting based on a principal component analysis of scan-path data while viewing natural images freely, and evaluated prediction accuracy of gaze position in free-viewing. Simulation results indicate that the accuracy of prediction of proposed model is better than that of previous model, which suggest the ability of the model to provide gaze prediction considering individual differences.
