Abstract

The authors have proposed a frame interpolation technique which adaptively selects either of block-matching-based or warping-based interpolation techniques for triangular patches generated by a feature point tracking and Delaunay triangulation. However, the accuracy of this technique degrades in the case that a single triangular patch includes multiple objects with mutually different motions. This paper tries to overcome this problem by detecting triangular patches that possibly include multiple motions and by subdividing them into smaller patches along with object boundaries. The experimental results indicate that the proposed technique improves the accuracy of interpolation in terms of not only the PSNR but also visual aspect.
