Abstract

Planar waveguide solid state lasers have many attractive features such as compactness, loss-insensitive highly-efficient operation, and power scaling along the direction of the width. The few gm thickness of waveguide provides high pumping intensity and high laser gain, and then leads to high intensity laser operation. This geometry is, in particular, useful for an intra-cavity harmonic generation such as green lasers for consumer use. In this paper, we describe the technologies and characteristics of intra-cavity green lasers and investigate de-speckle effects by multiplexing of wavelength.
