Description

High temperature treatment during a short time (e. g., 15min at 35°C) stimulated the germination of mulberry seeds at 25°C. Sensitivity of the seeds to the high temperatures continued to increase after imbibition and leveled off after about 20hr of imbibition. Far-red light irradiation applied immediately before or after the treatment with high temperatures did not suppress the stimulating effect of high temperatures. On the basis of these results, a possible mechanism for the high-temperature action was proposed.
