説明

In the previous paper the relative oral toxicity of several fluorine compounds for the silkworm larvae was elucidated. In this paper the decline of oral toxicity of NaF, which is medium in the toxicity for the silkworm larvae among the fluorine compounds tested, with the lapse of time was investigated appliing NaF on the mulberry leaves. The results obtained may be summarized as follows.
The fluorine toxicity for the larvae was proportional to the concentration; namely, in the lower concentration the toxicity was less resulting in the increase in body weight, the rapid growth, and the decrease in the mortality comparing with those in the higher ones, and the mulberry leaves applied with fluorine reduced gradually their toxicity as the time goes on after the application, and the correlations between the body weight and the fluorine concentrations as well as the duration after the fluorine application were both calculated to be significant.
Using the regression curves between the body weight and the fluorine concentration applied as well as the duration after the application, the decline velocity in the toxicity with the lapse of time after the application was calculated to be 1.5ppm per day.
From the fact that when the mulberry leaves during the course of time after fluorine application were analysed no significant differences in fluorine quantity contained in leaves in each period were observed, it is probable that the decline in the toxicity during the couse of time is mainly due to the chemical qualitative changes of fluorine applied.
