説明

Mulberry leaves in the field have been known to be polluted by several chemical substances including iodine and hence it is worthy of examining whether iodic toxicity is enhanced or inhibited under the presence of other chemical substances. Accordingly, potassium iodide (KI), molybdenum trioxide (MoO3) or potassium molybdate (K2MoO4) was combined with iodine and the toxicity of the mixtures was tested. The toxicity of KI was less than iodine by 50ppm and the two molybdenum compounds were little toxic even in high concentrations.<br>Among 50 to 200ppm final iodic concentrations prepared by adding KI to I, the toxicity of the mixture highly decreased only in 50ppm compared with that of 50ppm elemental iodine and the addition of KI did not affect the toxicity of elemental iodine at other concentrations. As regards molybdenum compounds, the addition of 1000ppm molybdenum of MoO3 and K2MoO4 had no effects on the toxicity of elemental iodine in different concentrations.
