We produced vitamin B12 by shaking culture of Propionibacterium freudenreich ATCC 6207 at. 30° and obtained 11 γ/cc vitamin B12 in the medium containing 2% lactic acid, 2% peptone, 1% dried yeast, 0.9% NaOH, and 1 p.p.m. CoCl2•6H2O.<br> We also obtained a good result by using the medium containing 2% glucose as carbon source, 2% peptone, 1% dried yeast, 0.8% K2HPO4, 1 p.p.m. CoCl2•6H2O on shaking machine (160 r. p. m., 6cm amplitude) and a maximum yield of Vitamin B12 was 1.8γ/cc on culture for 144 hours.<br> In the estimation of Vitamin B12 activity, the most simple microbiogical assay with E. coli 11105 was used together with the assay of Eugiena. Though the assay with E. coli has its weakpoint in sensibility and reliability, it seems to be complemented by using with the assay of Euglena.
