This paper aims at examining relationship between time constraint and performance in decision making task by subdividing the stage of time constraints. An experiment was carried out to identify work efficciency, work time and decision-making strategy under the conditions of seven stages in time constraint and two kinds of task difficulty. Decision-making task prepared by Payne et al (1988) was adopted for this experiment. Fourteen male students were asked to 24 trials in each 7-stage of time constraint and in easy and difficult decision-making tasks. It was clarified in these experiments that working time was shortened as being accompanied by the shortening of time constraint irrespective of task difficulty, but that work accuracy was kept up to a certain condition of time constraint and then decreasing, and that decrement of work accuracy was significantly different by task difficulty and decision-making strategy. The results of the experiment suggested that type of the error increasing mainly caused by time constraint were influenced by task difficulty.
