Abstract
This paper explains the amount of upland water requirement in humid region like Japan, and then searches for the way to save water.<BR>For water saving, each irrigation amount and the irrigation interval are considered.<BR>The results are summarized as follows;<BR>1. The reduction in each irrigation amount and the irrigation interval is effective for water saving.<BR>2. The period for calculating the consumptive use have to be based on the average consumption figure of about 1 month.<BR>3. The small portion of rainfall, which is considerd ineffective at the planning time, is useful for increase of soil moisture.<BR>4. The water balance method in soil is confirmed and it is confirmed that the method is simple and effectual.
