抄録

In general, rill or gully erosion plays an important part in soil loss from an eroded slope, and rill or gully networks are formed in many types of location. It is therefore important to establish a method for predicting soil loss from networks of rills or gullies.<BR>Accordingly, we developed a suitable method of estimating flow rate in networks of rills or gullies and proposed a mathematical procedure for predicting soil loss from such networks using this method, and the following type of rill or gully erosion equation suggested by some researchers.<BR>E=aQbSc<BR>where E is the rill or gully erosion rate, Q is the rill or gully flow rate, S is the slope of the rill or gully bottom and a, b and c are coefficients.<BR>When the calculation of soil loss from gully links composing the middle and lower reaches of a gully in a network formed on a bare slope in nature was done using the method involving the erosion equation, it was found that the calculated values were in rather good agreement with the observed ones within the range of exponent b=0.6 to 1.
