A practical technique is proposed for finding a set of quasi-optimum parameters, K, P and Tl of the storage function model defined by<BR>Sl=KQP, and Sl=∫t-Tl0γedt-∫t0Qdt<BR>in which Sl is the storage depth over a watershed considering the time lag Tl between rainfall excess γe and discharge Q.<BR>First, the shape of the trough on the response surface of errors for various sets of these parameters is discussed to show the applicability of the equations, K=hmγe-P and Tl=constant, in which hm is the peak storage depth assumed to be hardly governed by the value of P.<BR>Next, a practical quasi optimization technique for parameter identification is proposed utilizing the above mentioned equations. This technique shows excellent results in the computational time compared with the SP method which is one of the mathematical optimization techniques.
