Description

The World Trade Organization, through its Doha Round, has brought multilateral negotiations on the Trade Facilitation Agreement and part of agricultural negotiations to successful conclusions. Yet, the member countries must continue their efforts in re-building confidence on the WTO as the forum of trade negotiations. For that sake, the WTO would need to conclude successfully plurilateral negotiations on the Environmental Goods Agreement and the Trade in Services Agreement. At the same time, it would also need to bring out concrete results in “global issues” such as the pursuit of sustainable development, the expansion of supply chains across national borders and the rapid development of the digital economy.
