Abstract

The conversion of elymoclavine to agroclavine has been studied with cell-free systems by means of the “isotopic competition” method. As a result, the following biogenetic routes, most of which were found in the authors' laboratory under in vivo conditions, were confirmed by the use of two cell-free systems prepared from Elymus- and Secale- type Claviceps strains:<br> Elymoclavine_??_Lysergol_??_Lysergene_??_Agroclavine_??_Setoclavine
