Description
1-Amino-2-naphthalenethiolate ion (C10H6NH2S−), produced from 2,2′-dithiobis(1-aminonaphthalene) (DTAN), forms 1:2 chelates with d8 metal ions (NiII and PtII) in aqueous PONPE 20 micellar solutions, and then subsequent oxidation of the chelates with O2 yield new NIR-absorbing chelates [MII(C10H6NHS·)2]0. The remarkable NIR absorption properties are as follows: for PtII (794 nm) ε = 5.03 × 104 M− cm−1; for NiII (884 nm) ε = 4.73 × 104 M−1 cm−1.
