Abstract
This paper examines a heat recovery alpha-type stirling engine for vehicle exhaust gas energy with respect for its high efficiency and high specific power. First prototype with 0.5L piston displacement, which had zero-side force mechanism and gas lubrication between the piston and the cylinder for minimizing mechanical loss was built and tested. About 710W was generated from exhaust gas with equivalent load of small vehicle at the speed of 100km/h. It was established that this stirling engine had high potential as heat recovery system.
