Description

Flame colors in kerosene spray flames were quantitatively determined by the correlated color temperature. Detailed relations between the flame colors and air ratio were investigated by using a water-cooled furnace. The heat input of an atomizing oil burner was 100kW and the air ratio changed from 1.1 to 2.5. The results indicated that the correlated color temperature was useful to accurately express the change of flame color. The correlated color temperature ranged between 1580K and 2250K. It was also suggested that the mean value of the correlated color temperature could be used to evaluate the air ratio. Thus the mean value of the correlated color temperature has the possibility to be a valuable information source for combustion diagnostics and combustion control.
