Description
A new electrical equivalent circuit for corroding metal/solution interface considering the surface roughness of metal was proposed. The present equivalent circuit was composed of two parallelly connected R-C circuits which represented the summit and valley of metal surface. The electrical response of corroding iron in acid media with various conductivity were successfully explained by the proposed equivalent circuit. The accuracy of corrosion monitoring by polarization resistance method would be far improved by introducing the present equivalent circuit.
