Abstract
The three-dimensional flow velocity distribution in a transient flow is significantly investigated to analyze the flow characteristics. The flow velocity distributions can be reconstructed by the use of particle images from a PIV (particle imaging velocimetry). However, the three dimensional flow distributions in the whole flow field cannot be measured directly because the observing points of the particles are the order of only 100-1000.<BR>Fuzzy inference method offers a new technique to estimate the whole flow velocity vector fields from a few measured velocity vectors. After the fuzzy inference is constructed by the measured velocity vectors, the parameters of the fuzzy inference are tuned to the continuity equation by the decent method. This technique can be verified by the three-dimensional PIV standard images from the web site (http://www.vsj.or.jp/piv). The effectiveness of the present technique is also demonstrated by the simulation results.
