The purpose of this research was to grasp maritime scenery (types of scenery appreciation) being created through the combining of ‘persons, ’‘buildings, ’and the ‘sea.’In this research, ‘Pictures of Famous Locations in Edo’(Edo Meisho Zue), a collection of drawings produced in the Edo Period, was analyzed, and six types of marine scenay appreciation were identified. Further, the visionary structure of individual types was revealed based on relations of elements that compose these types and persons (viewpoints).
