Abstract

Based on the newly established knowledge of effective idling stop time, which is more than 5 seconds, the problem of traffic flow influenced by idling stop at the time of the waiting for a signal was reconsidered. Based on the outdoor experiments, possible timing of starting an engine which does not lead to the delay of departture was discussed.<BR>Consequently, as far as the first three vehicles are concerned, the engine restart timings after idling stops should be earlier than the beginning of the green phase.
