Abstract
Wind load on cladding is a very important parameter in building design, especially for high-rise buildings . So far in various building regulations and standards, the design wind load is defined as the difference of the maximum external pressure and the maximum internal pressure.<BR>However, depending on the sign of the internal pressure, this would result either overestimation or under-estimation of wind loads in most situations. In the present study, a proposal to calculate the design wind load accurately is investigated. A new concept of gust factor for the building internal pressure is introduced and its values in various conditions are recommended through wind tunnel test.
