Abstract

[Purpose] The purpose of this study was to clarify the necessity for cooperation between PTs and OTs in home visit rehabilitation. [Subjects] The subjects were PTs and OTs working in institutions providing home visit rehabilitation in Tokyo as well as users. [Methods] A questionnaire survey was performed by mail. [Results] The subjects in each occupation understood the necessity for cooperation, with importance being attached to the specialty of each occupation, but there were almost no established systems for this cooperation in their institutions. Clients' needs were great regarding items concerning improvement in gait and impairment but slight in items concerning ADL and leisure activities. The subjects considered that the specialty of PTs included items concerning dysfunction of the lower limbs and trunk, gait, bed and transfer activities, and respiration, and that of OTs included items concerning ADL and leisure activities. [Discussion] To overcome the problems of subjects, the types of specialist sent on visits for home visit rehabilitation should be evaluated each time based on the medical condition and needs.<br>
