Description
A simple method of measuring the radii of wavefront curvature of He-Ne laser beams is presented. An incident laser beam on a plane parallel plate of glass is reflected at the front and rear surface of the plate, and an interference pattern of reflected two beams is measured with a.one-dimensional image sensor and a microcomputer. The auto-correlation coefficient is computed numerically from the value of the interference pattern signals, and the radii of wavefront curvature are estimated from its coefficient. The propagation property of the radii of wavefront curvature is in approximate agreement with the theory of laser beams. The measured radii are independent on laser amplitude fluctuations and polarization properties of laser beams.
