Abstract

Urea is-present, together with dicyan diamide, in weathered or hydrated calcium cyanamide.The ditermination of urea in such case is usually made by urease or xanthohydrol method, but these methods are rather complicated, require longer period of time for the estimation and are not suitable methods to be applied for plant testing method. Since the rapid estimationof dicyan diamide, as described in the second report of this series, gives higher value than that estimated by the official method when the sample contained urea, the reaction of<BR>CO(NH2)2+2HNO3→2NH4NO3+CO2<BR>is applied with pressure and confirmed that the reaction is quantitatively completed within 2.53.0 hours. Thus, the quantitative estimation of urea in a very short time is established with satisfactory result by application of this reaction.
