抄録

Two improved sample preparation methods were developed for the gas chromatographic analysis of sulfur compounds and aliphatic amines in the exhaust gas from a poultry manure dryer.<BR>At least ten sulfur compounds were identified including hydrogen sulfide and methyl mercaptan by the use of cold trap method with liquid oxygen, and by flame photometric detector. The detected concentrations of the representative sulfur compounds are as follows; hydrogen sulfide (0.4 ppm), methyl mercaptan (1.2 ppm), and dimethyl sulfide (0.1 ppm), respectively.<BR>Chemical trap method with 0.5% aqueous boric acid solution made it possible to detect at least seven aliphatic amines including trimethylamine (0.02 ppm). In this case, the specimen was prepared by decomposition of the trapped sample with 40% sodium hydroxide and then followed by the cold trap method.
