Description
Ferromanganese, ferromolybdenum and ferro vanadium are taken up by HNO3+HClO4 or HNO3+H2SO4, and the solution is heated until HCIO4 or H2SO4 fumes appear and diluted with water to a fixed volume.<BR>An aliquot is pipeted out and phosphorus is separated from Mo by NH4OH precipitation and from V by 11202 and NH4OH.<BR>The precipitate is dissolved in HNO3+H2SO4, and evaporated to dryness, but do not allow the residue to be baked.<BR>After Fe has been reduced by 10% NaHSO3, hydrazine sulfate and ammonium molybdate mixture (2% ammonium molybdate solution in 30% sulfuric acid 25 ml +0.15% hydrazine sulfate solution 15 ml +H2O 65 ml) are added to the solution, which is then heated for a proper time and diluted to a fixed volume with water, and the absorption of molybdenum blue is measured.<BR>In this improved method, the acid concentration when phosphorus begins to be colored has been controlled, and the way to exclude disturbing influences of diverse elements has been examined.<BR>About an hour is needed for an analysis.
