説明

The relationship between temperature and the effect on endodormancy completion was investigated in flower bud of the ‘Hakuho’ peach, in order to develop a method estimating endodormancy completion. Potted trees were chilled in temperature-controlled dark rooms (-6, -3, 0, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 15°C) from October or early November. After chilling treatment for various durations, they were placed in a growth chamber adjusted to 25°C. The endodormancy completion was judged based on the flowering percentage at 20 days in the chamber.
Chilling for 1400 hours was necessary to break the endodormancy at 6°C, which was the most effective temperature. The relative effectiveness for endodormancy completion was calculated based on the chilling hours required for endodormancy completion at each temperature. If the effectiveness of 6°C is defined as 1, the relative effectiveness of -6, -3, 0, 3, 9, 12 and 15°C were estimated as 0, 0.5, 0.7, 0.9, 0.9, 0.6, 0, respectively.
To test the validity of the effectiveness under alternating air temperatures, endodormancy completion dates and air temperature were observed in an open field over four years. When the values of the effectiveness were regarded as chill unit coefficients, they were justified by integrated chill units on endodormancy completion dates in the open field.
