抄録

We report a case of retinoblastoma that presented in the anterior chamber and peritoneal fluid. The patient was a 6 -year old boy admitted to the Kawasaki Medical School Hospital because of leukokoria. Retinoblastoma was suggested by aspiration cytology smears from the anterior chamber. The smears revealed tumor cells with a necrotic background. The tumor cells were small and presented singly or in a cluster. Some tumor cells showed rosette-like formation. The cytoplasma were scant, the nuclei round or oval. The nuclear chromatin was finely granular, the nucleoli clear. The cytological diagnosis was confirmed by histological examination of the resected eye ball. Ten months later, metastases to the ribs, sacrum and liver were noted. Smears from peritoneal fluid revealed tumor cells showing indian-file arragement. The nuclei were larger than those of the tumor cells from the anterior chamber, and the nucleoli were more prominent.
